Frequently Asked Questions
Is Resin4Decor food safe?
Once fully cured, Resin4Decor epoxy is inert and suitable for incidental food-contact surfaces. Follow the product instructions and allow a complete cure before use.
Does yellowing occur?
All epoxy can amber over time. Resin4Decor formulations combine UV stabilizers with HALS technology to slow the yellowing process and help preserve clarity for longer.
Is Resin4Decor heat resistant?
After a full cure, which can take up to 21 days, selected Resin4Decor systems can withstand temperatures up to 194°F (90°C) without losing structural integrity. Avoid placing very hot cookware directly on an epoxy surface.
Can I apply a second coat or multiple coats?
Yes. Repair bubbles, dust, hair or other imperfections first, then sand the entire cured surface to create a mechanical key. Clean away all dust before applying the next coat according to the original instructions.
What safety precautions should I take?
- Wear chemical-resistant gloves and wash exposed skin promptly with soap and water.
- Work in a well-ventilated area.
- Use suitable respiratory protection when ventilation is inadequate.
- Follow the product label and Safety Data Sheet.
What is the shelf life?
Resin4Decor resins generally remain usable for about 6 months after opening or 1 year unopened when stored tightly sealed in a stable, dry indoor environment.
Can Resin4Decor resins be tinted?
Yes. Use Resin4Decor metallic pigments or pigment pastes for reliable color and compatibility. Add color gradually and test a small batch first.
How do I remove surface bubbles?
Pass a torch or heat gun briefly over the surface while the resin is still workable. Keep the heat source moving and use the lowest effective heat.
What is the maximum thickness of one layer?
- 1:1 Clear High-Gloss Epoxy: up to about 1.2 in (30 mm).
- 1:1 Fast Curing Epoxy: up to about 0.4 in (10 mm).
- Deep Pour 2:1 Epoxy: up to about 4 in (100 mm), subject to project conditions.
